This was actually a fairly new realization, but I don't do team sports, not a single one. I despise team sports for reasons unknown to me. Rowing is probably the closest thing to a team sport that I partake in. Still even with rowing you are always secretly hoping for your teammates to fail on the erg so you have an easier chance being number one.

The Erg. Could definitely be used for some form of torture or corporal punishment... for rowers is just how you prove yourself superior to another athlete.
There are even events where theres thousands of rowers inside a giant arena all hoping to row faster than the person to their right and left.
The picture really cant do a justice of how big the event truly is but this is C.R.A.S.H- B's

I suppose rowing is a team sport not in the mental mindset but because you have to be in perfect sync with your teammates in order to go fast, without that your boat remains stationary. I still don't know why I subject myself to this "sport." I don't think it is possible to define rowing without the words pain, misery or torture. After a 2k all you want to do is fall down and die.

Post 2k "walk"
After passing out on the floor for 20 minutes.

No matter how much awful rowing is I still somehow love it. One of the times I really love rowing is when you go out in the morning for early rows and the water and sky look like this.

Back to the team sports idea, I don't know what it is that just doesn't appeal to me but it is every team sport not just a select few. The thought of going outside to play basketball or soccer with friends is sickening to me, that is the exact opposite of fun. Seriously how does anyone find this enjoyable. I know many people find this a perfect way to spend their free time but I would rather eat a bowl of spiderwebs and nails.

The more I think about it the more I realize just how many non team sports I do! Like...

Ice Climbing and winter hiking
Sailing

Rock Climbing
Plus many more. I don't know why I don't like team sports. Maybe its because its harder to show personal achievement, who knows.

Camp

I have probably the best job in that a 16 year old kid could have. I wouldn't even call it a job to be honest. It is more me having a fun time and getting payed ($.16 an hour mind you that). Camp is the only place where you can act like a complete moron all the time and no one says anything about it, reason being that EVERYONE acts without reason.

Right now it probably the most stress I've been under all year. I have been going to this same place every year for the past 7 years. Last year I was a CIT and it was the best summer I've had to date and next summer would be even better as an Assistant Counselor the reason I am so nervous is because Ive been awaiting the phone call from the Camp Director saying whether or not were hired for about a week now. The anticipating is killing me along with the other 60 CIT's who applied.

How I feel every night waiting for the call.
I have no problem saying this is my favorite place I get to visit frequently. Spending my summers here is a dream. I get to do what I love most and get payed for it. One of the reasons camp is so great is because everyone there is there because they want to be and they love it as much as the next person.

At camp I get the opportunity to teach sailing, hiking, kayaking, water skiing, and climbing in and on the shores of Lake George, needless to say it is amazing.

Some of the dumb memories that you make stay with you for ever, a good one of mine was hiking the entire Tongue Mountain Range in one day straight without sleeping. Then proceeding to sleep in the parking lot of the marina for the next two days awaiting pick up to go back to camp. Camp is all about the harmless bad decisions you make.

For perspective on what the Tongue Mountain Range looks like.
For me the Adirondacks and camp are the best possible combination I could ever hope for. The memories I make here are priceless, thing that is strange about it is if you try to explain jokes or stories from camp to your friends they don't get it at all. You have to be there to truly experience it.

Getting to see this every night is just amazing.
Right now with the stress of school all I can think about is getting back to that place on the lake I love.

Road Test

Before my test I honestly figured knowing my horrible luck somthing like this would happen, I even had a dream where I successfully obtained six counts of vehicular manslaughter before the test came to completion.

Today was one of those days most anticipated and feared in a 16 year old's life, the drivers test. An important step in achieving the first big leap of freedom from your parents. Most will go into this process rather unprepared and incredibly nervous. I don't mean to sound like a cocky person and blow my own horn, but I was not nervous in the slightest. If anything the only thing I felt was pure excitement.
I had been looking forward to this date for weeks. Part of this could be attributed to excitement, but the rest must be because the DMV is near incompetent and road tests have to be scheduled over a month in advance. Thank you New York State.
On the day of the test a little bit of nerves set in, I was shocked because I don't normally get nervous. But in the end, after and arguing with a particularly large driving tester, I walked out of there with my license in hand. I knew the initial fun wouldn't last long, because shortly after arriving home I had to go to Hanaford to pick something up also drive both my siblings to soccer and pick them up.

All and all it was a terrifying day, but in the end my experience was well worth it.
